This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") governs use of Quartz Studio, a Windows desktop application published by Red Viciousse ("Publisher"). If Quartz Studio is acquired through the Microsoft Store, this Agreement applies as additional license terms for the application, together with applicable Microsoft Store purchase, billing and distribution terms.

1. License Grant

Subject to payment, Store entitlement, and compliance with this Agreement, the Publisher grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Quartz Studio on Windows devices associated with your lawful acquisition of the application.

Quartz Studio is licensed, not sold. The Publisher and its licensors retain all ownership, copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property rights in the application, its design, source code, binaries, branding, documentation, and assets, except for third-party components identified in the third-party notices.

2. Permitted Use

You may use Quartz Studio to create local documentation, procedures, support reports, incident evidence, manuals, screenshots, OCR-assisted notes, annotations, and exported HTML, PDF or DOCX documents.

You retain ownership of your own content, including captures, annotations, text, metadata, exported documents, and local project data. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of captures and documents complies with applicable law, confidentiality obligations, employment policies, customer agreements, and third-party rights.

3. Restrictions

Except where applicable law gives you a mandatory right to do so, you may not:

  • copy, redistribute, rent, lease, sublicense, sell, or provide Quartz Studio as a standalone hosted or managed service;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works of the application;
  • remove, hide, or alter copyright, trademark, license, or attribution notices;
  • use the application to violate privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, security, or export control laws;
  • use the application to capture content without the required consent, authorization, or legal basis;
  • bypass Microsoft Store entitlement, licensing, update, security, or package integrity mechanisms;
  • use the application or its outputs to misrepresent evidence, falsify records, or impersonate another person or organization.

4. Local Processing, Capture and Desktop Context

Quartz Studio is designed as a local-first desktop application. Its sensitive features are intended to run locally on the user's Windows device:

  • consented screen capture during an active documentation session;
  • a non-resident mouse helper limited to click events needed to create steps;
  • local OCR through Windows OCR capabilities;
  • Microsoft UI Automation and window context for describing the clicked interface element;
  • local HTML, PDF and DOCX exports.

Quartz Studio does not intentionally capture keyboard input, does not install a resident background service, and does not intentionally upload user captures, documents, OCR text, or project content to a Quartz Studio cloud service.

Microsoft Store, Windows, crash reporting, payment, update, licensing or analytics features operated by Microsoft may be governed by Microsoft's own terms and privacy statements.

5. Third-Party Components

Quartz Studio includes third-party open-source components. These components are licensed under their own terms, not this Agreement. Required notices are provided in the third-party notices.

Nothing in this Agreement limits rights granted directly by those third-party licenses.

6. Updates

Updates may be delivered through Microsoft Store or another distribution channel authorized by the Publisher. Updates may change, add, or remove features. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated application behavior and any updated terms made available with that update.

Quartz Studio itself does not need to perform background update checks to remain functional. Store-level update delivery may still be handled by Windows and Microsoft Store outside the application.

7. Support

Support contact details are provided in the Microsoft Store listing and on https://viciousse.com/support. The Publisher may request diagnostic information needed to investigate issues.

Do not send captures, exports, confidential data, credentials, personal data, or customer data unless you have reviewed and intentionally chosen to share that content.

8. Warranty Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Quartz Studio is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

Quartz Studio assists with documentation and review workflows, but it does not replace human validation, legal review, security review, confidentiality review, or professional judgment.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Publisher will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, exemplary, or business interruption damages, including loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, documents, captures, or business opportunities, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Where liability cannot be excluded, the Publisher's total aggregate liability is limited to the amount paid by you for Quartz Studio during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, unless applicable law requires a higher amount.

10. Termination

This Agreement terminates automatically if you materially breach it. Upon termination, you must stop using Quartz Studio and uninstall it where required. Sections concerning ownership, restrictions, third-party components, warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability, and applicable law survive termination.

11. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Agreement limits non-waivable consumer rights, refund rights, or statutory guarantees that apply in your country or region.

12. Entire Agreement

This Agreement, the applicable Microsoft Store terms, and any official privacy policy or additional notices made available by the Publisher form the agreement governing your use of Quartz Studio.
